Abstract: A recent survey showed that studies concerning Fuzzy Cognitive Maps have been increased. Such knowledge-based networks are suitable for handling complex systems where neurons/concepts denote variables, entities, states or objects associated to the system under investigation. This technique is a powerful modeling tool but have the disadvantage that the implementation is time consuming. Moreover, not many public available software implementations are described in literature, and not much is found about tools designed for modeling or experimentation tasks. In this paper we present a new Java library for Fuzzy Cognitive Maps which allows to completely design, learn and simulate dynamical systems with minimal effort. This library is based on the core of the recently proposed FCM TOOL. Although this tool comprises numerous experimentation options and a friendly Graphical User Interface, adapting the inference features to new problems could be difficult for non-expert users, due to the large number of implementation details related with graphical aspects. Thus, the proposed library is oriented to generic purposes and excludes the graphical components, since we are only focused on providing an application programming interface for modeling, simulation and learning of Fuzzy Cognitive Maps. Towards the end, some source examples are widely presented in order to illustrate the practical value of the proposal.
